As the Allies gain traction against the Japanese towards the end of World War Two, one man dreams of striking at their heart one more time.
Driven by the success of his previous secret mission, Operation Jaywick,, which resulted in seven Japanese ships being sunk in Singapore Harbour, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Lyon (Nathaniel Parker) hatches a plan to strike again, this time harder and more efficiently than before.
Driven by his insatiable, often obsessive appetite to finish the job, as well as defeat the Japanese who have enslaved his wife, Lyon enlists several of Operation Jaywick's commandos, plus new recruits to return and attack Singapore Harbour using one man operated submersible canoes.
After intensive training, setbacks and unsupportive commanders, Lyon and his men are finally given the green light to initiate Operation Rimau.
Twenty-three men depart Australian shores by submarine, to set up camp in the islands close to Singapore and inflict a blow that would damage Japanese moral and help finish the war.
These 23 men never returned.
Mystery surrounded their fate.
After the Japanese surrender, Captain Ellis (Simon Burke) is tasked with investigating the case of the missing commandos, hopeful they may still be alive, or at best, give their families closure.
As his investigation gathers more evidence through the use of a Japanese translator with knowledge of what occurred, he begins to piece together the puzzle.
Ellis discovers a combination of bad luck, aborted plans and desperate acts all contributed to many of the commandos being killed and the others captured by the Japanese.
But even more alarmingly, he discovers something far darker. Evidence of Japanese war crimes, deception and cold-blooded murder.
